A pool without a solid deck around it is just a hole in the ground. The surface you walk on, lounge on, and let your kids run on matters just as much as the pool itself. That's the mindset we brought into this backyard build.

Here's what we were working with - bare dirt, rebar grid laid out across the entire pool surround, and a blank slate that needed to become a functional, clean outdoor space. We set the forms, tied the rebar in a tight grid pattern to give the slab real structural backbone, and prepped every inch before a drop of concrete hit the ground. That prep work is what separates a deck that lasts from one that cracks and shifts after a couple of seasons.

Once the concrete was poured and finished, the difference was immediate. The pool deck wraps cleanly around the pool shell and connects directly to the covered patio, giving the homeowners one continuous surface to work with. No awkward transitions. No dead zones. Just usable space from the back door all the way to the water's edge. We also made sure drainage was built into the slab - not an afterthought, but part of the plan from day one.

What we ended up with is a concrete pool deck that does three things well - it looks clean, it keeps foot traffic safe with a broom-finished texture that grips even when wet, and it's built to hold up under years of use. Pool decks take a beating. Sun, water, foot traffic, patio furniture. The slab has to be done right the first time because fixing a bad pour is a much bigger job than doing it correctly upfront.

Whether you're working around a new pool or looking to replace an existing surface that's seen better days, this is the kind of work we do every day. Concrete slabs, pool decks, patios - we handle the whole footprint so everything ties together the way it should.
