Shifting pavers are more than an eyesore. Once they start moving and settling unevenly, they become a real tripping hazard - and no one wants to worry about that every time they step outside. That's exactly what this homeowner was dealing with before we showed up.
We started by pulling up all the old pavers and clearing out the base. That part matters more than most people realize. If the ground underneath isn't properly prepped, whatever you put on top is going to have the same problems down the road. We weren't going to let that happen here.
Once the area was cleared and graded, we set the forms and laid a full rebar grid across the entire slab. That steel reinforcement is what keeps concrete from cracking under load and shifting with the ground over time. It's a step that separates a slab that lasts from one that doesn't.
Then came the pour. The crew hand-finished the surface right in the forms - working the concrete smooth and cutting clean control joints across the slab. Those joints are there to control where any minor cracking happens, keeping the surface looking clean for years to come. The finished slab came out level, solid, and ready to actually be used.
What this homeowner ended up with is a backyard space that's safe, stable, and low-maintenance. No more wobbly pavers, no more weeds pushing up through the gaps. Just a clean concrete slab they can put furniture on, fire up the grill next to, and actually enjoy.
